Wings of the Morning: Meditations on Psalm 139

Wherever we are, God is. After all, He is the "Ancient of Days"; the great "I AM" who was, is now, and ever shall be. Not only is He ever present with us, He has perfect knowledge of us. He knows all our thoughts and actions. Nothing escapes His notice.

Is this concept disconcerting to you, or does it bring you comfort? Do you like to think about a God who watches your every move, or would you just prefer to not think about it?

Perhaps you have mixed feelings. It is only natural for us to sometimes cringe when the discussion of such a God comes up. None of us live the life we should—nor can we. That is why grace was necessary.

If thinking about an omnipresent, omniscient God brings up images of "Big Brother" or the Santa Claus who "sees you when you’re sleeping, knows when you’re awake, and knows if you’ve been bad or good so be good for goodness sake", I pray that the reading of this Psalm, and these meditations on it, will cause you to be overjoyed that our God is always with you.
