It Cost Me How Much?

No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us. 1John 4:12 NIV

I love to see how God reveals himself in everyday things and situations. In my case it is through my grandchildren. A few weeks ago, our plumbing stopped up and we had to call a plumber. It turns out that our little three year old grandson was responsible and the short five minute visit it took to fix the problem cost us seventy-two dollars! There is no way he can repay us no matter what he did, but I still love him and I love unconditionally. Read more »

Jesus: He’s the best thing that ever happened to me

Sliced bread is not itDo you want to know what the best thing in the world is? (No it’s not sliced bread nor even “the best thing since…”).

The other day I was listening to a song by Point of Grace called “The Best Thing.”

It’s about knowing Jesus as your Savior. It’s one of those cute fun songs with an upbeat tempo. My little granddaughter and I used to sing and dance to this song. We loved it. It’s hard to sit still when you’re listening to it. Read more »

He is Here

1 Corinthians 6:19The song He is Here is one of my favorites. I heard it at Christmas time a few years ago and, of course, that is the appropriate time because that is when we think of Jesus’ birth and that He is Emanuel, God with us.

However, the thought occurred to me that we need to know as Christians that God is always here with us.

At His birth, his mission was to redeem us from sin and restore a relationship with God the Father by dying on that terrible cross. Quite simply, that was the plan and Jesus fulfilled His mission for you and for me. Read more »

Family: The Prodigal and His Brother

Father runs to greet his returning son.I love the story of the prodigal son (Matthew 15:11-32). It so clearly tells of how gracious and forgiving our Heavenly Father is. The story tells how the father ran to his son and embraced him even before he was cleaned up! Then, he threw a huge party to celebrate his son’s return.

What a great picture of how God wants his wayward children to come back to Him and how He rejoices when they do! Read more »

Fruit of the Spirit: When “Winter” Comes

Winter

There are many times in my walk with God that I wonder where He is and if He has heard my prayers, especially those that have not been answered after a long period of time.

The thought came to me, however, that my time of feeling like God has forgotten me is like winter time for a tree. The tree may look dead because the branches are completely bare of leaves, fruit, or blossoms. The fact is, though, that the branches are still very much alive. They are still connected to the tree itself and the life of the tree flows through every one of those branches from the largest to the smallest.

Just as the bare branches stay connected to the tree in winter, so must I stay connected to God in my “Winter Seasons.” The branches go dormant for a season or two, and my spiritual life may go dormant periodically as well. This is the time to allow the Holy Spirit to flow through me as I read and meditate on the Word and continue to praise God regardless of how I may feel.

God will sustain me through this time and then, like the tree sprouting beautiful leaves, fruit or blossoms in the springtime, my life will begin to sprout the fruit of the Spirit again.

God will never leave us nor forsake us and He is faithful to take care of us. So, continue to trust Him in your seasons of “Winter”. Then, when your see your circumstance change, or your longtime prayer answered, you can give God all the glory and the praise!

Be encouraged. Stay connected to God in the “Winter”!

In Christ,

Christine

Prayer: What? When? Why? How?

Pray without CeasingWhat is prayer? When do I pray? Why and how do I pray? These are all commonly asked questions. They are good questions and God wants us to have the answers to each of them.God wants us to know Him. We can know Him in His fullness according to what Ephesians 3:19 says:“[That you may really come] to know [practically, through experience for yourselves] the love of Christ, which far surpasses mere knowledge [without experience]; that you may be filled [through all your being] unto all the fullness of God [may have the richest measure of the divine Presence, and become a body wholly filled and flooded with God Himself]!” (Amplified)So, understanding first what prayer is opens the door to knowing God. Bought With A Price

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Jesus is our redemption, but it cost him his life. He died on the cross so that you and I would not have Bought With A Priceto endure the punishment for our sins. Because of this supreme sacrifice, the Holy Spirit can now live on the inside of us!

We are His temple!

Hebrews 3:6 says, “But Christ, as the Son, is in charge of God’s entire house. And we are God’s house, if we keep our courage and remain confident in our hope in Christ.”

Why then would we want to associate ourselves with sinful things? Read more »
