If you need to leave home for an extended period of time for any reason, know that traveling makes potty training much more challenging. While you shouldn’t schedule any long vacations during your expected training period, sometimes things come up and you must travel. Perhaps your toddler is taking a long time getting used to the idea of using the potty all the time and they aren’t completely trained when you need to travel. That’s where this section would apply as well.

Have your child leave home empty. That means to go potty before leaving and no liquids on the road or minimal liquids, at least. Resist the urge to put them in a pull up. He or she is a big kid now. Putting a diaper on him or her now can only confuse. Take along the potty chair or adapter seat. Little bladders can require frequent pit stops and you want to be prepared. Anywhere you go, look for the bathrooms first. Make note of rest areas along the way where you may be able to stop for a potty break.

Carry extra tissues and sanitizing gel for strange bathrooms. You don’t want to be caught short. I always liked to have an extra roll of toilet paper in my purse along with a huge bottle of Germ-X. You never can be too sure what type of situation you’ll be getting into. Always choose the handicap or family bathroom. You’ll have extra room if you use the stall for people with disabilities, but the seat may be elevated and your child will need more help.

Shopping malls and many other places are now building unisex family bathrooms specifically designed for parents. These bathrooms are as large as handicap bathrooms, private, and can be stocked with needed toiletries like Kleenex and wipes. Teach children to line public toilets with strips of toilet paper as an added barrier of protection if toilet seat liners are not available.

Always accompany your child into public restrooms. Safety is nothing to take for granted even while potty training. Never, ever let your child go into a public restroom alone. Don’t even let them go with an older sibling. Have them accompanied by a trusted adult at all times!

Pack a waterproof sheet, small plastic tablecloth, or heavy plastic bag to cover mattresses or a rubber-backed bathroom rug that rolls ups easily for travel. Hotel staff will be just as appreciative as relatives and friends.

Don’t be surprised or upset if your child starts to have accidents. Revert to training pants for now and relax and enjoy your trip. Don’t make your trip a battleground. Worry about training or retraining when you get back home.

Watch your child’s diet while on the road. A change in diet during family vacations is likely to bring about a change in bowel habits, either constipation or diarrhea, and a corresponding slump in training progress.

There’s still time before the snows hit to point your RV toward Colorado for a most excellent family adventure. From camping in the Rocky Mountains to digging for dinosaur bones and climbing into cool cliff dwellings at the Mesa Verde National Park, Colorado will go down in your family book of memorable trips as one of the best.

Before we go further, here are some RV places you should know about:

Rent your RV in Denver through Nolan’s’ RV Rentals. If you own your RV, Mattas Marine & RV, an RV supply and service store in Grand Junction might come in handy. Enjoy the hot springs at the Joyful Journey Hot Springs Spa in Alamosa. Many hotels, like the Royal Gorge Jellystone Park Camp Resort in Canon City or the Heron Lake RV Park in Fort Collins have many facilities available to you during your stay there, including laundry room, playground, picnic areas, pools and children’s activity programs.

Otherwise, head for the campgrounds dotting Colorado and park your RV amongst the trees!

Colorado has more than 500 mountain peaks throughout the state. The highest point of the state (and the entire Rocky Mountains for that matter) is Mt. Elbert which has an elevation of 14,440 feet. Veer east from the southern Rocky Mountains and you’ll find the Colorado Eastern Plains.

These plains are a section of the Great Plains within Colorado with elevation ranges of more than 3000 feet to 6562 feet. The lands are used primarily for dry land farming or ranching, though you’ll find occasional irrigation farming. The drive to the west takes you to some notable peaks like Longs Peak, Mount Evans, Pikes Peak and the Spanish Peaks.

Continue to the interior of the Rocky Mountains and you’ll see several large parks. One of which is the North Park, east of the Continental Divide. The North Park is a high basin that surrounds a wide valley in Jackson County. In its vicinity are the waters of the North Platte River, Michigan River, Illinois River and Canadian River. On the west side of the Continental Divide is the Middle Park, located in the Grand County. Then there’s South Park, with the South Platte River as its water source.

Driving west to east in Colorado allows your family to see the state’s desert-like basins, alpine mountains and the vast Great Plains. You will also get to see Pike’s Peak, the mountain in the front range of the Rocky Mountains, and just 10 miles from here is the Colorado Springs.

Be sure to drive by Denver, the capital and the most populous city in Colorado. Take a stop and enjoy its parks and gardens. If you have time, seize the opportunity to visit the Forney Transportation Museum where your family will get to see hundreds of cars and other modes of transportation.

The Denver Merchandise Mart is also worth a stop. Your kids will love to join in the Denver Kids Expo. Admission to this expo is just $9 for adults and kids are free of charge…and parking is also free! Your family will enjoy more scenic drives near Denver – Golden, Boulder and Fort Collins. The drive from Golden to Boulder via Highway 93 will thrill the kids with all its twists and turns.

Nearly every city your travel through will offer a fun kid-oriented activity. From kid-friendly activities like the Butterfly Pavilion and Insect Center in Westminster, or the Collage Children’s Museum in Boulder, to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in Colorado Springs, your RV Road Trip will take you from one adventure to another.

Great beaches, surreal volcanic scenery, unique visitor attractions: The small Canary Island of Lanzarote boasts all the right ingredients for a holiday in the sun. And thanks to its year round climate and close proximity to the UK it can be enjoyed all year round, offering good value holidays during both the winter and summer seasons.

Spanish conquistadores first seized the island during the 1400’s before going on to subdue the rest of the Canaries, and Lanzarote then evolved to become a staging post between the New World and the Old as Spanish galleons ferried Inca Silver and slaves from Africa across the Atlantic. Today the majority of visitors are from the UK, Eire and Germany. The bulk of whom arrive by air – with a further 250,000 tourists visiting the island as part of a cruise.

Most visitors will find themselves staying in one of the three main resorts on the island; Costa Teguise, Puerto del Carmen or Playa Blanca, all of which are well contained and offer plenty of modern amenities and facilities along with high standards of accommodation such as a large selection of Lanzarote villas, apartments and hotels.

Costa Teguise is located in the north of the island, just a short fifteen minute transfer from Arrecife airport. The resort was first developed during the 1970’s as an upmarket coastal resort – initially proving very popular with German and Scandinavian tourists. Costa Teguise is set out on wide open boulevards, creating a spacious feel. But as a man-made resort it lacks a natural organic heart, a role which is only in part played today by the Pueblo Marinero. Costa Teguise does, however, boast a great selection of beaches, as well as some excellent accommodation options.

Drive south around twenty minutes along the coastline and visitors will find the oldest resort on the island – Puerto del Carmen. Tourism first took off here in the 1970’s and is still going strong today. Thanks to the fact that Puerto del Carmen boasts a great selection of beaches such as the aptly named Playa Grande as well as a large range of apartment complexes offering good value breaks. The resort has recently undergone renovation, making it an ideal time to enjoy a holiday in Puerto del Carmen.

A further thirty-minute drive to the south brings visitors to Playa Blanca, which is the newest resort on Lanzarote. It was first developed during the 1990’s and is still evolving rapidly.

Playa Blaca has long been the gateway to the island of Fuerteventura and enjoys some of the best weather on the island due to its southern location. The resort is also especially popular with tourists who like to book their own holidays online. Offering plenty of self catering options and some of the most luxurious villas in Lanzarote even the most discerning travellers are well catered for.

Train travel brings to mind old movies and the romance of travel. In the days when it was not that important when you arrived at your destination. Now there is the new class of train travel where you can go from London to Paris travelling at 186 mph or 300 km.

There are a vast amount of rail lines all through the UK and Europe which are connected–some of them able to take the high speed trains. When travelling between countries in Europe it is sometimes quicker to go by train than to travel by airplane. As the stations are in urban areas and give the passenger quick access to the stations, they also have many modern conveniences that rival airports.

There are numerous places to purchase food as well as newsagents my favourite memory is the fantastic tasting crepes at the Frankfurt Railway station in Frankfurt. We stayed nearby and it was quite convenient to buy food there I bought a crepe every time I walked past.

One of the advantages of train travel is the time saved not only from the stations being in urban areas but the numerous boarding points in each carriage which enables the trains to be boarded more quickly. There are also less weather related problems than air travel.

So while you’re on the very quick trip across the English Channel contemplate what Paris has to offer. France is perhaps the most popular travel destination in the world–not so strange with all the exceptional attractions the country has to offer. In Paris the magical monuments, splendid cathedrals and unique museums will keep you busy for days.

Each region of the country is intriguing and varied. Like the beautiful castles of the Loire Valley the savory smells of the Provinces and the French Riviera where the sun always seems to shine. In France you can enjoy the finer things in life from the renowned cuisine to the world class art.

Top Ten Attractions in France

1. Tour de France.

Join the 15 million spectators that line up every year to see the worlds biggest cycling race held since 1903. In the hours before the riders pass, a carnival atmosphere prevails.

2. Wine-tasting in Bordeaux.

A tasting tour of the greatest vineyards in the world is a great experience. The hardest part may be spitting the wine out instead of swallowing it.

3. Palace of Versailles.

This incredible palace was built to awe the whole of Europe and was home to French royalty. The most famous room is the 236-foot Hall of Mirrors.

4. Louvre Museum.

The Louvre is one of the world largest museums and houses collections of up to 208,500 works of art. Don’t miss the world-famous Mona Lisa and Venus of Milo.

5. Corsica.

A mountain in the sea Corsica is also called Island of beauty. The diversity of its scenery makes it one of the pearls of the Mediterranean.

6. Eiffel Tower.

The symbol of Paris was not supposed to be permanent at all. Erected by Gustave-Alexandre Eiffel for the Universal Exhibition of 1889, it was supposed to be pulled down a few years later but the Parisians loved it, so it was turned into a radio signaling station.

7. Carcassonne.

From afar Carcassonne looks like a fairytale walled city. This medieval fortified city almost has not changed over the centuries and is truly breathtaking–especially when it is lit up after dark.

8. Bastille Day.

Every year on July 14th the French celebrate the storming of the Bastille in 1789 with incredible fireworks and parades. Quatorze juillet was the start of the French Revolution.

9. The Gorges of Verdon.

These Gorges in the Provinces are Europe’s answer to the Grand Canyon. This spectacular 250 meter deep 21 kilometer long V shaped gorge was incised into the limestone by the River Verdon.

10. Monet Giverny Home and Garden.

These gardens strikingly painted by Monet are magnificent all year long. The Japanese Bridge and Lily Pond seem virtually unchanged since Monet time.

Train Travel Tips

· Purchase your ticket before arriving in Europe as it is cheaper.

· Your ticket can be purchased up to 6 months in advance.

· The ticket is non transferable.

· Youth discount is for 25 years and under.

· Britrail and Francerail have senior citizen discounts.

· International destinations, high speed trains and night journeys require reservations.

· 1st Class has reclining seats, fewer seats per carriage, it is quieter as they accommodate more adults and business travelers and often include a meal and have more luggage room.

Cruise holidays are the perfect combination of fun, relaxation and entertainment, afloat and ashore, couples, groups and individuals can mingle at ease and families feel at home. Cruise holidays are for people who want to discover the best of the Mediterranean, Caribbean or lots of other destinations without having to carry their bags around with them. They sail to a different place each night so you only have to unpack that one time but get to see new things all the time. Cruises are perfect to go see some sights and chill out or explore the world via the sea!

Cruise lines recognize the value of selling every last cabin on the boat, even at a much lower cost compared to the regular price. But to protect the full-fare business they receive from traditional travel agents, cruise lines will not allow many of the deals to be advertised in newspapers or magazines, or on television.

Finding that holiday cruise deal from a selection of discounted and cheap cruises in recent press adverts and newsletters is pain taking, Most of these offers are posted on web sites first, by checking back regularly as they change these offers frequently you can snap up the best cheap holiday cruise deal before they are published. Booking six to nine months in advance usually yields a saving.

A last minute cruise holiday when the ship isn’t fully booked also results in lower prices. To encourage early bookings or to reboost slow sales, cruise lines sometimes offer special promotional fares, such as 2 for one 1 offers, 50% off the second passenger, and discounts on the equipment you can use onboard the ship.

If you have a 3rd or 4th person sharing the stateroom the price per person is sometimes much less than for the 1st and 2nd person included for the holiday (A single occupancy – one person in a stateroom designed for two or more – usually costs much more.) For example, the first and second person pay £1,000 ($1659 USD) each and the third person pays £500 ($830 USD). But on the other hand, a single would pay £1,500 ($2489 USD). Another thing to look out for is the higher the deck the stateroom is on, the higher the price.

Cruise holidays do not have to be costly, particularly if you take advantage of cruise ships that are moving from general holiday cruise destinations to another. You will most probably find a bargain here or a discount on last minute cruise.

Did you know that there are no official educational or licensing requirements for offering guided tours of Ireland? All you’d need to start your own guide business is a name for your company, a brochure, and some paying clients. Although this is good news for would-be entrepreneurs, it’s not so great for those of us who are seeking quality guided tours of Ireland. Here are some tips that can help you separate the pros from the cons.

Look for longevity.

How long have the guided tours of Ireland been in operation? Of course, years in the business alone do not guarantee quality. But, generally speaking, the longer an Ireland tour company has been in business, the more likely it is that you’ll have a good experience. A few Ireland tour companies have been continuously running trips from the States to Ireland for two generations!

Be aware of background.

Where is the tour leader from and where were they born? What is his or her education? The quality of guided tours of Ireland obviously depends on the guide. Look for a guide who has lived in Ireland—and preferably studied there, too. Not only is such a guide more likely to be well versed in Irish history and culture, but he or she will also know about the little treasures that are off the beaten path.

Consider the itinerary.

There are guided tours that focus mainly on a specific city or region. Others look exclusively at one aspect of Irish life, such as the culture, history, art, music, or food. While these can be wonderful—if they correspond with your interests—you may have a richer experience if you opt for one of the guided tours of Ireland that offer more variety. The top Ireland tours give you a great feel for what life is like in the big cities, small villages, and everything between.

Don’t jump the gun and pick a tour before investigating.

There are plenty of fantastic tours throughout Ireland are available – but there are also a great number of mediocre tours. You need to investigate, since there are so many tours out there and it is very difficult to tell whether or not any given tour is one of quality.

There are dozens of guided tours of Ireland from which to choose. By doing a little research into your guide—and the history of his or her company—you’re likely to make a more informed choice and have a more rewarding vacation.

Once again the Sunshine Coast is bathing in sunshine with hundreds of families planning their next beach holiday. Of course there’s an endless amount of opportunities for fun activities for the whole family, whether it’s building sand castles on the beach, or taking part in water sports. However, nobody wants their Sunshine Coast holiday to end in tragedy, so whatever you do, please take care of yourself and your family whenever you’re at the beach or enjoying yourselves around the pool.

Remember, lifeguards don’t sit around on the beaches just for the sake of it. It is always advisable to swim on beaches which have lifeguards on patrol, particularly if you and your family are all going to go into the water at the same time. Lifeguards are not only there to keep a lookout for people getting into trouble in the water, but they’re also able to provide first aid should the need arise. Above all, you need to bear in mind that even the most competent swimmers can still find themselves in trouble due to strong currents, backwash, and even because of certain water sports which may be taking place.

It simply cannot be denied that the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Australia is a fantastic family destination, not only because there’s so much to do for grownups and children alike, but there’s also plenty of accommodation available to suit all tastes and budgets. Most Sunshine Coast accommodation can offer you a variety of room sizes, onsite facilities, and of course beautiful swimming pools so that you can enjoy swimming either at the beach or at your hotel.

Babies and young children of course should never be left unsupervised near a swimming pool or even at the water’s edge on the beach. Remember, it doesn’t take long for an accident to happen and you had only need turn your back for a minute and your child could end up falling in the water, or jumping into the deep end. Whenever you’re lounging around the pool you should always abide by the rules, and of course, you need to let your children know that the rules apply to them as well.

Just as you shouldn’t swim at a beach if there’s no lifeguard present, you should also avoid swimming in pools where there’s no lifeguard. In fact, even if you’re using a swimming pool, you may want to consider nominating one adult to oversee the kids while they play about in the water. Of course, this is even more important if the swimming pool is very busy as it may be difficult for a lifeguard to immediately notice whether someone is in trouble not. Fortunately, lifeguards aren’t only there to pull someone out the water if they’re in trouble, but they’ll also caution anyone who’s found to be acting irresponsibly.

Practically all Sunshine Coast accommodation has swimming pools for their guests to enjoy during their stay but, whatever you do, please ensure that poolside safety is a top priority. Furthermore, because there’s a strong possibility that your accommodation will be in close proximity to a beach, river, or lake, it’s just as important to exercise the same amount of caution when venturing out.

While it’s obviously not necessary to wear protective footwear when you’re swimming in a pool, you should always do so if you’re swimming somewhere where you cannot see the bottom. Remember there could be sharp rocks, bits of glass, or even broken bottles below the surface which could of course inflict a nasty injury. Whenever possible, you should only go swimming with someone else, and ideally, at least one of you should have a cell phone nearby so that you can call for help should the need arise. Furthermore, if you and your family decide to go on a boat trip you should always make sure that everyone is wearing a life jacket, irrespective of how calm the water may be.

Why not soak up the sun during the holidays by enjoying a fantastic Sunshine Coast holiday, as you spend your days relaxing on beautiful sandy beaches. With plenty of accommodations on offer, you and your family can have the time of your life, but please just make sure that you go home at the end of your holiday in one piece.

Paris, also nicknamed “The City of Light”, is the cosmopolitan capital of France and one of the most emblematic cities in Europe. With 2.2 million people living in Central Paris (some 10 million people live in the suburbs), it is one of the largest cities in Western Europe. Located in the north side of the river Seine, Paris has a well-established reputation of being a beautiful and romantic city, cluttered with historic associations and vastly influential in culture, fashion, art, fine food and classy design. Paris may well be considered the most popular urban tourist destination in the world nowadays.

If you are looking for a wonderful and all-encompassing experience in sightseeing, you should try the Paris Museum Pass, a convenient and best valued pre-paid entry card that will give you access to over seventy museums and attractions. But beware, most museums and galleries are closed on either Mondays or Tuesdays – check ahead so you are not stuck with a missed attraction. The Louvre’s fantastic collection will not be available on Tuesdays while you won’t be able to see the impressionist artists at Orsay museum on Mondays. Take this into consideration when setting up your visits and itineraries.

If you are on a budget, consider visiting national museums on the first Sunday of the month, this day they are all open and free of charge. However, this may mean long lines and crowded exhibits. If you are planning to travel on or around Easter week, be aware the city is going to be really crowded. People have to queue up at the Eiffel tower for several hours before making the ascent. You can always pick up a copy of ‘Pariscope’ or ‘Officiel des spectacles’, these are weekly magazines listing all concerts, art exhibitions, museums, films, stage plays and attractions.

Paris is surely one of the greatest fashion centers of the Western world along with New York, London, and Milan. It may well be considered a shopper’s paradise. While the Paris fashion scene is constantly evolving, the major shopping centers and malls tend to remain unchanged. High end fashion, style and couture can be found in the 8th district. In summer, you may window-gaze the boutiques along Canal St-Martin, or go shopping along the impressive arcades of the famous Palais-Royal.

On the mostly Jewish neighborhood Le Marais, many shops are open on Sundays. Here, the stores are intimate and specialized, offering the typical “Parisian” style clothing and accessories. There is no doubt you will find something along each street and boulevard, it is always well worth the look. The Babylone (Métro line10 and line 12) area is also a great shopping ground. The area dwells some of the most recognized fashion houses like Chanel, Jean Paul Gaultier, Versace, and many more along smaller private boutiques with handmade clothing and shoes.

When you stay at a Paris vacation rental, you will enjoy the familiarity of the true Parisian atmosphere. You can go out and visit your local pastry shop, get a baguette and comfortably have breakfast in your own studio or flat. You can then take a hike to one of the many public parks, go sightseeing around the neighborhood and then take a casual lunch in one of the many bistros and cafes. The nightlife is unsurpassed, with many different ethnic clubs, bars and lounges that make this a truly multicultural, multicolored city for everyone.

Besides this, scuba diving activity also provides you with an opportunity to unleash your spirits as you dive in and discover the age-old wrecks that are deposited underneath especially in the northern part of the Sha’ab Abu Nuhas Reef. Apart from scuba diving, the beautiful beaches in Hurghada offer multiple options to enjoy several other activities like kite surfing or sailing. Constantly blowing wind right from the early morning to the late evening makes the Red Sea ideal to enjoy sailing.

Just in case, if you are less sporty kind of person, many hotels or resorts offer a large selection of less extreme, but rather relaxing kinds of water sports and outdoor activities. A snorkel trip to Gifton Island can be one of those and is highly recommendable option. Adding to this, a trip by paddleboat, catamaran, canoe, glass bottom boats or submarines might also be other alternatives to enrich your holiday experience. One of the most remarkable attractions among them are the monasteries of both St. Anthony and St. Paul, though the Roman site of Mons Claudianus is predominantly impressive and was in use for more than 200 years. This vast Roman site is named after Mons Claudianus who used to provide grey granite for the Roman Empire. Additionally, Mons Porphyrites is another most visited Roman quarry complex situated in the middle of Eastern desert. This major landmark also provides enough options to explore the remnants of fortress ruins, temples, dwellings, shrines, broken pillars and cracked stone baths.

Marine Biology Museum is just one of those famous museums that can offer you a walkthrough experience in the underwater world. It provides you with opportunity to discover a good set of coral reefs and different variety of Red Sea species, including sharks and turtles. However, if you are a history buffer in that case the National Museum can be worth tourist spot to visit. This 22,000-square-meter building features four exhibition halls, artists’ studios and performance spaces. As a visitor you may spend your day viewing the whole range of antiques that describes the story of great Egyptian history starting from Pharaonic through Islamic eras.
