Entrepreneurship offers young people very exciting opportunities for future endeavours. At only 27 years of age, Mark Zuckerberg is the youngest billionaire of all time and has an estimated net worth of $17,500,000,000. He has inspired numerous other people under the age of 30 to venture into the unknown world of entrepreneurship. With earning potential like this, it is easy to see the appeal for young people entering this lucrative field. Here are some tips and things to expect.

1. The most important thing when it comes to being a successful entrepreneur is a good idea. What this means is open to interpretation. What is known is that needs have to be satisfied and this is where the job becomes interesting.

2. Ask yourself these questions:

• How would you make the world a better place?

• Is there something that is bothersome that could be fixed?

• How would you go about fixing these problems?

These are the core questions entrepreneurs need to ask themselves. They need to be able to say I have an idea. This is what it is and this is what it will solve.

3. While this may seem simple, a potential entrepreneur should not immediately jump into the business world without some sort of formal education. Many opportunities to learn before you do exist, whether it be at the local community college or at the foot of some well-seasoned veteran. Make sure to have some idea about how to accomplish your goal before getting too deeply involved.

Note: I say this from experience. I have had potential job ideas that went nowhere because of my lack of learning in areas necessary to be successful. I ended up taking an entrepreneurship class that taught me a lot of things that I had not anticipated I would be encountering.

4. Money is of extreme importance. Planning, budgeting, accounting; these are all things required of an entrepreneur. Investors will not provide capital if there are not adequate plans with detailed earning potential and growth estimates. These are the things that you will learn with your education and it is why you cannot simply start being an entrepreneur without some prior learned skills.

5. When the time comes, an entrepreneur needs to be able to take that first step. You cannot expect everything to be perfect and things seldom are. Adam Osborne famously once said, “The most valuable thing you can make is a mistake – you can’t learn anything from being perfect.”

6. Risk is inherent in the field and is rewarded when wisely taken. This is why entrepreneurship is so appealing to so many people. When properly taken in a timely and decisive fashion, it is this risk that makes the business man who he is and what he is seeking for; the unlimited reward.

7. That being said, expectations should be tailored. Do not expect to get extremely rich very quickly. People seldom do. It is persistence and hard work that ultimately decides the worth on an idea.

If after a time the idea goes nowhere, it is important to know when to give up. Not all geese will lay golden eggs. Liquidation of assets and bankruptcy maybe the only way to proceed. This, unfortunately, is the destiny for many entrepreneurs and it is important to know how to deal with it when the time comes.

So if you have the will and determination to succeed start by thinking of a great idea. Know what you are doing and seek advice before going headfirst into the business world and know when to say you cannot go any further. The potential benefit may just be worth risk. What will you think of that will change the world for a better place?

Logos play a vital role in branding your business. They serve to catch the eye of an interested buyer, and also provide instant recognition: Every time someone sees your logo, they immediately know what your business is. Whether designing a package for your product, building a website to promote your service, or running advertisements, your logo serves to tie the layout together and make the image instantly recognizable as belonging to your company. If you’re looking for a place to buy a logo design for your home business, you can begin the search online. Below are five of the best sites to get you started:

1. Logo Design Guru: A great way to get a professional logo inexpensively, Logo Design Guru takes advantage of crowdsourcing to find the best match for your needs. You join the site and post a request for what you’re looking for and how much you’re willing to pay. Interested designers then send you concepts, and you can choose among them which logo you want. The chosen artist then finishes the project and sends it to you within a few days.

2. Mycroburst: Another site that utilizes crowdsourcing, MycroBurst is an India-based design company that’s highly ranked among professionals. Though the main company is based out of New Delhi, designers come from all over the globe to participate in projects, giving you a wide variety to choose from.

3. Logo Mojo: This company has a group of in-house designers ready to create a custom logo for you. Their design packages start at an affordable $195. You can choose from up to 15 logo options, and most packages allow for unlimited changes until you’re satisfied.

4. Logo Nerds: Extremely affordable logo packages starting at just $27. Logo Nerds staff designers will work with you to design what you’re looking for, with more options available as the price increases.

5. Logo Logos: If you can’t afford to buy a custom logo, you can try designing your own at this site. You choose from among several different basic designs and then customize the design further with your company’s name and color scheme. This can be a good solution to businesses with no budget for art, but bear in mind that thousands of other people have access to the same logos, which could cause brand confusion for your customers.

Something as important as choosing a business logo shouldn’t be taken lightly into consideration. Even if you choose a simple logo, you should consider having it professionally designed. Commissioning a designer or artist to create your logo can cost a fair amount of money, but the returns will pay for the investment once your brand gains recognition.

In a competitive market, social media messages are flooding in from all directions. How do you get noticed? Avery Petersen, a marketing consultant, recommends finding someone to design a logo that will stand out in a crowd.

Business customers are few in number so one should do their best to hold on to them. Each and every one of them is so valuable that you cannot afford to lose them. The best way hand on to them is to keep them active. This means that you keep in touch with them regularly, giving them service updates and regular checks in order to find out whether your previous dealings with them are proving good for them or not and what could be done to improve. There are several ways to improve your customer retention. A lot of different marketing strategies have come up, but they all are not effective. The top five ways to improve business retention are given below.

Meeting Customer Expectations

This is the most important factor in improving your customer retention. You should meet all the promises you made when you sealed the deal with the client. This will create trust between you and your customer and will make it simpler for you to get more orders from this particular client. He/she if satisfied with your work could recommend you to their colleagues and other business industries. Your products should meet the demand in the market, like the quality of the product, the features and the services that come with them should be included in the package.

Customer Service and Satisfaction

This is a clearly worthy objective when you talk about customer retention. Again this is a trust building exercise, but can turn out to be a very difficult one. If your customer is a bitter person he/she will make your life a living hell and you will have to cope with them no matter what the situation is. Studies show that efficient customer services do pay off in the long term and help in customer retention. Customers who faced problems which were resolved efficiently are more likely to come back to you than those who never faced a problem at all.

Loyalty Programs

Loyalty programs often include special discounts or extra perks, along with special services and privileges. Some companies offer travel rewards based on the volume of purchases. These rewards are highly appreciated by employees, making this strategy a highly effective and desirable one. As many businesses forbid their employees to accept more than a token amount of value, these services are much appreciated by them. The more they purchase, the higher the rewards they get.

Newsletters

Newsletters help keep organizations aware and up to date of your products and services. This helps them become aware of your competitive marketing strategies and how you are better than your competitors. It also tells them what special offers and discounts you are offering and to what extent they can benefit from them.

Unique Selling Proposition

Be creative when marketing yourself; a unique selling proposition (USP) might be the boost you wanted. A unique selling proposition not only helps strengthen your existing customer relationships, but also attracts new ones. This makes your client realize that you are worth continuing services with.

Get rich quick scams have been around as long as there have been people. One popular get rich quick scam in America involved the Brooklyn Bridge in New York City. Scam artists tried to “sell” the bridge to new immigrants and others to make a quick buck. In fact, the state actually began telling citizens in the 1800’s that the bridge wasn’t for sale to stop the scams.

Scam artists are still around and they don’t just prey on new immigrants. In fact, scam artists now appear very highly professional due to the computer age. This is why it is so important to be careful.

TANSTAAFL.

This is an acronym for “there ain’t no such thing as a free lunch” which is a popular saying in America. In other words, if it sounds to good to be true, it probably is. If someone is offering you a free lunch, check to see what sorts of things you might have to do in return to get the free lunch.

Many ads promise that you will work just a few hours and get a large amount of money. In general, it is best to be cautious. While some people might have that experience(if any) chances are that the only one really making money is the guy who created the scam.

The Truth About Getting Wealthy.

It takes time to “get rich”. Most experts in fact advocate getting rich slowly by doing several things. The first thing is to stop spending your money on “get rich quick scams”. Then do these things:

1. Reduce Your Debt.

The next thing to do is to reduce your debts. You can not be wealthy if you are paying a high amount of interest on your credit cards. The first key is to actually pay off your debts and begin to work on creating wealth.

2. Start Saving.

After you have paid off your debts you can begin to start saving money. This will help in case of an emergency, which means that you won’t have to borrow money in order to get through the situation. Most experts recommend that you have at least a 6 month savings cushion. Some recommend more.

3. Start Investing.

You can begin to work on investing and getting your money to work for you. In order to learn about investing, you can contact a broker or other financial advisor, or do research on the internet. Once you do these things, you will be on your way to getting rich….slowly and surely.

When you are running a business, for instance a dental practice, you need to know things about the competition. The rationale for this simple—if you are to stay ahead of them, you must know what kind of marketing tactics they are currently employing and how they are managing their business. You do not have to go sneaking in order for you to stumble upon vital information. If you know which questions to ask, then finding the answers won’t be difficult.

1. Who is your competition?

Although this sounds extremely obvious, you need to know the answer to this question first and foremost. You need to be extremely specific as well. If your practice caters only to kids, then look for similar dental practices as well as those practices which offer their services to individuals of all ages.

2. What’s their corporate culture?

Each business will have its distinct, corporate culture. In order for you to compete head on with a specific business, you need to understand its culture first. One place where you can learn a lot about your rival is through their website. Check out the events that they sponsor or the kind of activities which they are known for. Are they big on sponsoring community events or do pro bono work? Are they good at interacting with patients? Keep tabs on your competition’s corporate culture and learn from their strategy. Maybe the reason for why they have slightly more patients than you is because they are extremely good with explaining treatment plans to their patients by doing so in a level which is easy to comprehend.

3. What are they offering?

Now that you know their internal workings, it’s time to get a grip on how they lure individuals. You do not have to go sleuthing to find out these “secrets”. By simply checking out the competition on various social media websites or reading the local newspapers one will be able to know what the rivals are up to. Why do you need to know these things? This is because you need to set yourself apart from your competition but at the same time recognizing similarities.

4. What trends are they setting?

Business savvy individuals will always come up with new promotions and will only be too eager to set trends. Although you should not be copycat, but knowing that your competition has began launching a series of new promotions will definitely keep you on your toes and keen to step up your own marketing efforts.

Starting is the most crucial step in business ventures. First of all, you come up with an idea as to what kind of business you want to pursue. Preferably, it is highly suggested that your business ties in with your strengths in terms of skills and talents. For example, if you are a musician, you could start by getting the idea of putting a capital on recording studios or music tutorials.

Since it normally starts with an idea, you should opt to choose the best ways in making this idea into materialization. You have a great chance to succeed if you carefully plan out what you need every step of the way. Starting a business is like news writing. You answer the four “Ws” and one “H”. Consider these basic questions if you think you are ready to start up your business for a long-term goal.

What will be my business?

Choosing the right business is similar to choosing an academic degree in college. You assess yourself if you could graduate or if you would end up shifting to another course. What sets this dilemma apart from a college diploma is its underlying risks. It requires a huge amount of money and you could certainly turn into a loss if you cannot keep it up.

When will I start?

Depending on what business you undertake – if it is selling ice cream – you might want to consider the upcoming environmental condition so that you will be able to anticipate if your product is worth selling. Although, there are some peculiar people who grabs a frozen cone during a winter season which is still unlikely.

Where will I put up my business?

Looking for a strategic place gives an edge to your competitors. If you install a printing shop beside a school, it is more likely to be hedged in by teachers and students for their projects and print materials.

Why is there a need to put up such business?

As an entrepreneur, you should chew over the main thrust of your business. Is it a necessity wherein people crave to purchase your products as a need or is it only an auxiliary like supplementary wants for people’s hobby and leisure.

How will I succeed?

There are countless ways to succeed in your business. One of the most effective ways is good marketing. You could try to tap with your local media for advertising through newspaper ads, radio announcements, television commercials, etc. With the advent of the modern technology, you could use the internet thorough social networking sites as a scatter-shotgun for customers of your desired interest.

If you can answer these questions properly, you are already one step ahead to success.

It’s probably a pretty safe bet to say that you have a desire to succeed in a home based business of your own. After all, there’s a good reason why you’re reading these words, right? It could be that you’ve already found your work from home business opportunity and now it’s time for you to take action and turn that opportunity into a legitimate and profitable business.

Are you feeling a little bit frustrated though? Perhaps your desire for success is not the issue but rather knowing what to do in order to achieve success in your home business is the problem. Well, rest assured that, at this point, if you have only the desire to succeed but nothing else, congratulations, you’re already well on your way to success in your home based business. There is still a fair amount of work which needs to be done but your desire does have you pointed in the right direction.

With a desire to succeed in business being your most important quality, the second most important quality you can possess is a willingness to fail. Failing or stinking at something is always the prerequisite to succeeding at it. As long as you’re willing to get into the game, roll up your sleeves and make the necessary mistakes then your eventual success can become a reality.

To help you along in your journey to a successful home based business – or any type of business for that matter – there is an evolutionary rite of passage which all successful entrepreneurs must go through.

Understand that as long as you’re willing to progress through the following four steps then you will see exactly how your own home based business development will unfold.

Step 1. Unconscious Incompetence.

This is when you stink at something and you don’t even know that you stink. This is where all business professionals begin. You can read all the books on business ever printed but you are never an entrepreneur until you begin the business building process for yourself. And when you do begin the process, be willing to make your mistakes. Expect to make many mistakes and be easy on yourself when you do. Nobody was born an expert at anything. Hang in and resist the temptation to throw in the towel at the first sign of trouble.

Step 2. Conscious Incompetence.

This is when you still stink but at least you now know that you stink. Or, more importantly, you now know what it is you stink at. Once you begin to realize where your business building skills are deficient you can take the steps necessary to improve those skills. Maybe you have a natural gift for speaking with people but are not very adept at marketing or time management. Recognizing your shortcomings is the necessary first step to fixing those shortcomings.

Step 3. Conscious Competence.

This is when you’re getting good at business and you can feel and see yourself improving in the areas where you needed help. This is when you go through your business day recalling and applying the business building techniques and strategies you’ve been studying. Business success is coming easier for you as you can now efficiently apply the things you’ve been learning. The most important part of this step is the increase you’ll experience in your self confidence. The higher the confidence you have in your abilities the easier your business building becomes.

Step 4. Unconscious Competence.

This is it: when you’ve arrived at this step you’ve reached the entrepreneurial summit. This is when business success flows effortlessly. In this phase of being an entrepreneur your business building becomes second nature. You’ll seem to always say the right things at the right time, you’ll make the right decisions and success will just seem to flow naturally. Even when you reach this step it is still probable that you’ll make an occasional mistake. But, because of the knowledge and experience gained, the mistakes made will most likely have a far less negative impact.

So let’s now consolidate these 4 crucial steps: Do you want to become a great home based entrepreneur? You first have to work at becoming a good one. Do you want to become a good one? You first need a willingness to be a mediocre one. And in order to be a mediocre entrepreneur you need to jump into the game as a lousy one.

There are no shortcuts to success. Many a home business failure is the result of a well intentioned person searching for and taking shortcuts. However, and this is the reason why so many people fail in business, there are no shortcuts to success.

Do you desire long lasting success? It all starts with gaining knowledge. Applied knowledge becomes experience and experience eventually becomes success.

There is no better way to gain knowledge then through reading good, quality books. All it can take is just one good book on the topic of success to get your wheels in motion.

Are you looking for a fun, easy-to-learn hobby that might even be developed as your own home business? I believe candle making fills the bill for all of these things! Just look here to get started.

Scented candles are usually very expensive unless you find them on sale or buy the ones with little or no scent. Making scented candles is easy and economical, plus you can make them the color you want with the amount of scent that suits you best.

You will need paraffin wax, a metal pan, a candy thermometer, a mold, a wick, liquid scent and a type of coloring. You will need paraffin wax, a metal pan, a candy thermometer, liquid scent, coloring, a mold and a wick. The candy thermometer will help you keep the wax from getting so hot it catches on fire.

Candles can be just about any shape you can imagine. The simplest form to begin with is the pillar mold. The top and bottom are wide and flat and the shape is a rectangle. It is also one of the easiest kind of candles to use because of its broad, firm base.

Most people prefer not to melt the wax on their kitchen stove top. You may want to use a small hot plate so the liquid wax won’t get on your stove top. If you try to wipe it up every time you pour the wax and it drips, it will ruin whatever you use. Melted wax doesn’t come out of material once it dries.

A pound of paraffin wax will make one normal size pillar candle. Watch the candy thermometer closely, and don’t allow the wax to go over 300 degrees.

Once the wax is melted, add the coloring and the scent a little at a time until it is just what you want. Add a small amount at a time until you have the color and scent you like. Stir well.

Slide the wick through the hole in the mold. Wrap it around a wooden spoon and tie it. Now you are ready to pour the wax into the mold.

Once the wax begins to cool, check to see if it sinks in the middle of the mold. If it does, add more wax. Remove the candle from the mold once it is completely dry and hard. Cut the wick to one half inch. Look at the final result and you will be amazed to see that it looks just as nice as one you could have bought in the store.

Experimenting with a candle through variations, and keeping a written or printed record of the amount of fragrance that was used is a good way to create a personal candle making recipe that you refine over time. Quickly you will have found your very own special (top secret)!) blends.

Without completing each of these steps successfully the chances of marketing your small business online dramatically decrease. There will always be exceptions but these seven steps should be considered your building blocks to your online marketing success.

1. Make your own website.

By this I don’t mean a corporate/brochure style site which bores visitors and has them clicking away in seconds. No. You need to entertain as well as educate your visitors.

To do this best I think it is essential to have a WordPress Website attached to your main business website or even on a separate domain. Don’t just name it blog! Give it a keyword rich, benefit laden title. Tell them how you will make their lives better. Use the common terms others use to search for your business in Google and the other search engines.

There is a lot of advice online on how to set up a WordPress site. If you are unsure you can hire someone from a site such as Elance or RentaGuru.

The beauty of WordPress is that it is so easy to use. Non-techie small business owners can add fresh content, offers, audio, and videos to their site without having to pay a webmaster every time. Small business profits is as much about saving money as it is about increased revenue.

Oh, and of course, Google and Social Media love WordPress as well. Getting more free visitors is always nice.

2. Add a means of capturing the names and addresses of your visitors.

Unfortunately, buying cycles are getting longer and longer. This means that people are rarely going to buy from you the first time they come across you. So, to get around this you will need:

An optin/squeeze page.

An autoresponder [e.g. Aweber].

A series of emails in your autoresponder.

A free gift valuable enough that visitors will be prepared to give you’re their info.

This may sound daunting if you’ve never done it. However, it is easy to hire someone to do it for you or, even better, learn to do it yourself. These are very low cost marketing tactics with excellent results when done right.

3. Generate some visitors to your site.

You can either pay for traffic or generate it using your own time. Either way there is no such thing as free traffic. You pay with time, money or both. Personally, I think a mixture of paid and self-generated is best. It will depend for you on your present skills and whether you are time-rich or money-rich.

Pay-per-click [PPC] is the fastest way to generate traffic. You can have visitors to your site within the hour. Sadly, PPC can be very expensive and there is a learning curve. But don’t get me wrong, when it is well done it can be a gold mine. Just tread carefully and test and track your results.

Add new fresh content to your site every week. Make it fun. Make people smile as they learn new stuff and they will reward you by staying longer on your site and coming back for more. Use photos and videos. Get them involved with competitions and surveys. My favorite tip is this: see what your competition is doing and do the opposite. No one ever got wealthy following the herd!

Other tactics to consider:

Social marketing.

Ezine ads.

Swapping links.

Get all your past and present customers to sign up put your website address on receipts, signs, and all your other marketing banner ads

Post articles to article directories.

The more you do of each the more success you’ll have.

4. Build relationships with your prospects who have signed up.

The way to do this is to talk about their problems and offer solutions. That will get their attention! Make sure you personalize your emails. Tell them about yourself, your family and your business. Get them to see you as a friend/trusted advisor. Give them tips and tricks industry news free info.

5. Make them offers.

When your have their trust and they know, like and trust you they will no longer regard your offers with suspicion. Keep in contact regularly. You need to decide what you feel is right but contact them a minimum of once a week.

Make them repeated offers. Vary them with different bonuses discounts and bundle products and services together. Make sure every offer has a deadline. Ask them what they want and need.

6. Keep doing more of the same.

The fact is you will probably lose 20% of your list a month. Make sure you keep doing each of the first five steps. This will give you a list of hungry, loyal buyers and subscribers who look forward to hearing form you; who want to hear your latest tips, news, and offers.

7. Never lose sight of where your focus should be.

Always ask yourself, “How can I offer more value to my customers?” The moment you forget them and start concentrating on only yourself, they’ll know. It will come across in all your communications and marketing. Put them first, and they will stay loyal, and you will reap the rewards.

Owning a car washing business and detailing cars could bring in significant cash if they are willing to put in the work.

Folks are busy nowadays and never in our history have we been busier. The end result to all of this running around is that many chores either don’t get done or we look for others to do some of those chores for us. Whether or not it is house cleaning, gardening or washing and detailing cars, this leaves a wide open market for the neighborhood kids. With these options available to them, a busy automobile owner is often ecstatic to find a ready teenager to clean their car for them.

To get your kid started to making their own money, they will first need to decide what services they’d like to offer. Washing cars is easy and doesn’t cost much but if they are looking to make some really good money encourage them to offer extras services to their clients. They could offer to wax the cars, polish the wheels, vacuum carpets and clean the vinyl or leather inside.

Make sure your child knows how to clean these things correctly. You may have to show them how initially and how to select the best equipment and products to get the job done. Advise them to call around to the varied car detailing businesses to find out what they bill for their services and then have your child offer a cheaper price. Be sure to take into consideration the cost of their supplies, travel costs, and the amount of labor they may put into a job when they are working out their prices.

When they’ve determined their services and costs, the next step is to advertise and the only way to do this is with fliers and business cards – a great introduction to marketing! Have them hang their fliers on circular boards where ever you see them, many hardware stores, automotive stores, and most grocery stores have them.

They can also take their fliers door to door and put them on each dirty car they see. Hand out business cards to the new and used car lots. Times are tough right now and if they can not afford pro detailing services they could be prepared to let your child wash their automobiles for them.

Automobile detailing has the potential to be a particularly profitable business for a teenager and it can be done with little expenses and apparatus, making it the ultimate way to fill your empty wallet. Good luck!
