One of my favorite activities is to hold small workshops for aspiring jewelers that want to learn the tricks of the trade. I see a lot of talented young people in the workshop and I hold a lot of discussions about how one can come up with jewelry designs that actually sell. I’m sad to report that most of the youngsters have no idea about what will sell and what won’t and I think this has a lot to do with some basic misconceptions that people have about design work in general and jewelry making in particular. This is why I try to teach in my workshops, not only the technical aspects of jewelry making, but also give some insights about how to create jewelry that will actually sell.
