Simple games are a great choice because this will ensure that any children at the party can also play, creating a fun experience for all your guests. Here are six suggestions.

1. Charades.

Classic party games, such as Charades, are always a fun treat for your guests. In Charades, guests are divided into two teams and must pick a sheet of paper with a word or phrase and then act out that word or phrase without speaking during a certain amount of time. If their team is able to guess their word, they get a point. Team’s alternate turns until they get a certain number of points.

2. Catchphrase.

Other “team” games that can be a lot of fun are games like “Catchphrase,” which can be purchased at any toy store. With “Catchphrase,” one person from each team is given a card with a word they will try to get their team members to say. Below this word is a list of words that they cannot say. If they say any of the prohibited words they are buzzed and they lose their turn. Watching your guests find creative ways to get their team to say the word always brings a lot of laughter.

3. Trivial Pursuit.

Trivial Pursuit is classic trivia game that can be played in teams or individually. A person or team rolls the dice and moves their piece around the board until they land on a colored space. Each space indicates a different area of trivia, i.e. entertainment, history, sports, etc. When they land on a space, they are asked a question and if they answer correctly they get a piece of the pie colored to match the color question they answered. The piece will fit into their game piece and once a player or team has acquired each colored piece of the pie, they win.

4. Balderdash.

Balderdash is another entertaining game that can be purchased at any toy store. This game needs a lot of creativity and in a group can be quite comical. The players roll the dice and the player with highest number picks a card from a deck. The other players have to write down what they think the definition of the word is. Players can play seriously or be creative and make up any definition they would like. The person picking the card must try to find the correct definition. The more outrageous the definition, the more fun and laughter you will have.

5. RockBand.

Another great game that will really give your guests some hilarious memories are RockBand. Made by Wii, Rockband is a video game that allows your guests to sing or play instruments with the game. The players get points by keeping the right beat or singing the right notes. Both kids and adults will love playing this game and acting out their favorite musician.

6. Slip It In.

A quick and easy game with little set up or clean is “Slip It In. “ When each guest arrives, they are given a sheet of paper with their “slip it in” phrase. They must attempt to work this phrase into normal conversation during the party, making whatever ridiculous phrase they were given seem as natural and realistic as possible. You can give prizes to the person guessing the most slip it in phrases or to the person who is able to pull off their charade. The best prize for everyone will be watching your guests make up unbelievable stories.

With a little imagination and creativity, you can surely have a great party that will be talked about by all of your guests.
